This time last week about forty fans of public spaces gathered in Bermondsey Square. Celebrating the launch of their latest issue, Blueprint Magazine gathered the troupes to enjoy the sunshine and an impromptu picnic. With a football, frisbee and boules, the games commenced, with children running out of the bollards (and a few footballing journalists), and the atmosphere was certainly welcoming.
New addition to the Square Del’Aziz offered mezze for the picnicers, and Alfie’s fired up the barbecue to help people stave off hunger. Shortwave cinema offered up a special screening for earlybirds, and of course Sainsbury did a brisk business in cold beers!
All in all the first picnic in the square was an enjoyable foray into the world of impromptu enjoyment of a great space.
