Festival feeling warms the Square

Yesterday evening The Worshipful Major of Southwark mingled with residents and Bermondsey locals, filmmakers, artists, designers and the media to a backdrop of soul, jazz and new disco from DJ Phat Phil Cooper, while poet David J worked the crowd with his own Bermondsey beats.

Soon-to-be opened restaurant Del’Aziz set up a Raj tent complete with hookah pipes and belly-dancers; Shortwave premiered the Bermondsey Square film and later, an impromptu performance from the new Bard of Bermondsey David J, accompanied by the beautiful soprano voice of Louise Kemeny. The Bermondsey Square Hotel’s barbeque kept everyone going till the early hours.
